Honor Thy Sister

I see countless posts on social media about how women need to be lifting each other up instead of tearing each other down. I'm 100% all for this and I've been on both ends and I'll admit, it's definitely nice being on the "lifting" side as opposed to Operation Tear Her Down. I can't say that I'm innocent of never having those negative thoughts or even taking action to bring another girl down, but man, I know how bad I feel after it. It gets me no where except a guilty conscience and I'm in the exact same place I was before or even worse.

How do we stop this cycle? One word, HONOR. I know, I know it's such a holy, biblical word, but it's simple, it means giving respect to someone you admire. I'll give you one more. It means having high moral standards of behavior. This last definition takes responsibility from the person receiving honor to the one giving it. That means it's up to you to give honor, not for them to earn it. 1 Peter 2:17 says, "Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." There it is plain and simple, honor ALL people. All means all. This also takes humility. Putting your pride aside is what has to take place to give honor to someone you really don't want to.

That means it’s up to you to give honor, not for them to earn it

The Supernatural Ways of Royalty is a book written by one of my favorite speakers and authors, Kris Valloton. He says, "Whenever we treat people honorably even if they refuse to honor us, we demonstrate that we have a standard within us that isn't determined by the people around us. We don't just honor people because they are honorable, we honor people because we are honorable." I love this because it's something I can control. I like having control of my behavior and not letting it be dictated by other's behaviors.

What if we could change the culture we live in by doing something as simple as giving honor to those around us? Yes, let's uplift others and support the #girlgang, but let's take it one step further... let's honor each other. We need to treat each other with respect and look past the provocative picture on Facebook that makes you mad because her boobs are hanging out. Who knows, she might have "daddy issues" and this is her way to get attention. Stop seething when you see that boutique owner who has over 500k likes and has the perfect life. You don't know the struggles she's had to get where she is and the fear she may possess to loose it all. If those thoughts come into your mind that you "just don't like her," pray about it. Pray for her and pray for God to put His finger on what it is that's in you that causes that reaction. You'll be a better woman because of it. You'll be a better friend, daughter, mom and wife as well. Let's raise our daughters to not only honor us as their parents and authority but to also honor her friends and every person she comes in contact with. Teach her to keep her word, to have integrity and to never let the enemy speak louder in her life than the Holy Spirit.

I'll get off my soap box for now, but please know that my heart is for women, especially followers of Jesus to unite and come together in support of each other. The devil loves to pull us apart because he knows we are stronger together. He hates women because he knew that the seed of the Messiah would come through a woman and he's had a target on her since Eve. This is the REAL WAR on women...don't let him win it!

Love you all!
